The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) is a non profit organization established by Elton John to support innovative HIV prevention, education programs, direct care and support services to people living with HIV. It has raised over $500 million to support HIV related programs in fifty-five countries and saved an estimated 5 million lives to date.
The organization supports its work through proceeds from special events, cause-related marketing projects, and voluntary contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations.
The organization hosts the annual Elton John Aids Foundation Academy Awards Party in Los Angeles, California, following the Academy Awards ceremony. This annual party alone has raised many millions of dollars for the Foundation and its work.
In Elton´s own words: “If we can find the love as a global community to agree that every life has equal value, if we can summon the compassion to provide treatment and prevention for everyone living with HIV – and I mean everyone, no matter who they are, where they live, or how rich or poor they may be – we can end AIDS forever.” Elton John
